Quran Reader is designed to keep core reading, worship, study, and preference data on your device. No account is required to read the Quran.
1. Scope
This policy explains how IQ Studios processes information when you use Quran Reader. The app is intended for users aged 16 and older. Store age ratings may vary by country or region.
2. Information stored on your device
The following information is normally stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to IQ Studios:
- reading position, bookmarks, memorisation progress, and display preferences;
- prayer and fasting journal entries;
- saved mosque schedules and notification preferences; and
- Quran study-companion conversation history.
If you create or restore a backup, you choose where that file is saved or imported.
Optional local measurement (supported Google Play and Huawei AppGallery editions)
Where available, Local measurement is optional and OFF by default. If you enable it in Privacy & data, the app records foreground sessions and active foreground duration on this device, separately from cold starts. The local records contain a local sequence number, UTC start and last-observed times, app build and variant, session status, diagnostic classification, clock-change indicators and limited device-restart information. They contain no account identifier, cross-device identifier, Quran or conversation content, notes, location or purchase tokens. This feature adds no automatic network transmission to IQ Studios or another analytics service.
Background time is excluded from active duration. A new session normally begins after at least 30 minutes in the background. If the app process ends unexpectedly, the last recorded session is marked incomplete; unobserved time is not invented. Diagnostic measurements, including applicable test builds, are excluded from real-session counts. These optional, retained records cover only this installation and the periods when you enabled measurement, not all users, complete population statistics or provider-reported revenue and payouts.
The internal ledger retains at most 256 session records. Inactive records whose last recorded observation is more than seven days old are pruned during subsequent measurement or export activity. This is not a guarantee of a scheduled purge while the app is inactive. Disabling measurement stops further measurement; Delete measurements removes the app's local measurement records and turns measurement off.
Export local measurements opens the document picker only when you request it. You choose the destination, which may be a local folder or a document or cloud provider. That provider may process the exported file under its own terms. Exported copies are outside the app's retention and deletion controls: disabling or deleting measurements in Quran Reader does not delete files you previously exported.
In supported Google Play and Huawei AppGallery editions, an export requested while Local measurement is in Diagnostic mode also includes retained, validated records from the app's separate on-device advertising diagnostic ledger. This export contains at most 128 ad-event records dated within the preceding seven days, including timestamps, ad format, event and result codes, provider, and any SDK-reported ad value, currency and precision. Purchase events, receipts, purchase tokens and payment-card details are excluded. The retained records are not a complete history: records from earlier app builds and test activity may be present. A saved ledger-build header identifies its last write, not the build for each event; if that saved header is unavailable, the current build may be shown. These SDK values are diagnostic information, not verified provider earnings, revenue totals or payouts. Choosing Diagnostic mode does not itself request an ad, make a purchase or automatically send the export to IQ Studios. You choose the file destination through the document picker; its provider may process the file under its own terms. Disabling Local measurement or using Delete measurements affects session measurement, not the separate advertising ledger or previously exported files. This export filters out ad records older than seven days when read; it does not promise a scheduled deletion from stored data while the app is inactive.
3. Microphone, location, and compatible services
Microphone
Microphone access is requested only when you start voice control. Audio is sent to the speech-recognition service installed on your device. Recognition may occur on the device or through that service provider, depending on your device settings and provider. IQ Studios does not operate a server that stores your voice recordings.
Location
Location is requested only for location-based features such as prayer-time calculation and Qibla direction. Those calculations are performed on your device. Quran Reader does not send your precise prayer or Qibla location to advertising services.
Installed-app visibility
Depending on the store build, the app and included SDKs declare targeted Android package and intent queries for compatible speech-recognition and text-to-speech services, web links and browser/custom-tab support, app stores and Huawei/Honor services, and advertising features such as checking whether calendar, SMS or dial links can be handled. These compatibility queries are distinct from permission to read calendar entries or SMS messages, access the microphone or location, or place calls. Third-party advertising processing is described in section 4.
4. Advertising
The free app may display advertisements. Depending on the store build, it uses approved advertising and consent services such as Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform, or Huawei Petal Ads and its consent services.
Subject to your region, consent choices, device settings, and applicable law, these providers and their authorised partners may process:
- advertising or device identifiers, including OAID on supported Huawei devices or the Google advertising identifier on supported Google builds;
- IP address, device type, operating-system and language settings, network type, carrier, region, and basic app information;
- ad and app interactions such as impressions, clicks, closures, playback, app start and exit events, and frequency information; and
- diagnostic, security, fraud-prevention, and error information.
This information may be used for ad delivery, measurement, security, fraud prevention, and, where permitted, personalisation. Your precise device location is not provided for advertising. You can review available consent and advertising choices in the app and in your device settings.
5. Optional purchases
Quran Reader may offer optional one-time purchases, including support purchases and an ad-removal purchase. The store through which you installed the app processes the transaction. Depending on your store, this may include Google Play Billing, Huawei In-App Purchases, Amazon Appstore In-App Purchasing, or Microsoft Store billing.
The store may process product, order, transaction, account-region, purchase-status, and payment information under its own privacy terms. IQ Studios does not receive your full payment-card details.
6. How information is used
Information processed by the app or its service providers is used only as needed to:
- provide requested app features;
- deliver and measure advertising;
- complete and restore purchases;
- maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse;
- diagnose failures and improve reliability; and
- comply with legal obligations.
7. Sharing and retention
IQ Studios does not sell your directly identifying personal information. Information is shared only with the store, advertising, consent, speech-recognition, and technical service providers needed for the functions described in this policy, or when required by law.
Local app data remains on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall it. Service providers retain information under their own policies and legal obligations. Their processing and storage locations may depend on your region and the service used.
8. Your choices
- You can deny or revoke microphone and location permissions in device settings.
- You can use manual prayer-time and Qibla inputs without granting location access.
- You can review advertising consent choices where the option is available in the app.
- You can reset or limit advertising identifiers using your device's privacy controls.
- You can remove local app data by clearing storage or uninstalling the app.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, or request deletion of personal information processed by a provider.
9. Security and children
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect information associated with the app. No method of electronic processing is completely secure.
Quran Reader is not directed to children under 16, and IQ Studios does not knowingly request directly identifying personal information from children through the app.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when app features, providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices change. The effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.
